Nestlé’s KitKat has been voted as the world’s best chocolate bar.

Ranker.com, an online platform that features rankings and lists about lifestyle and entertainment topics, recently held a poll to determine the world’s best chocolates. Based on the set criteria, only chocolates in the shape of a bar could be part of the poll. Chocolates with fancier shapes like cups, eggs, and balls were thus not included.

After the poll ended, KitKat carried the day with over 100,000 votes. Twix came in second place, while Snickers took third place.

Some people believe that KitKat’s visibility in various stores worldwide might be one of the reasons why the chocolate bar garnered the most number of votes. This means that KitKat products are easier to access in other countries compared to its competitors. Its extensive flavor variety, which includes unique ones like Matcha Green Tea, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Baked Potato, can be another reason why KitKat topped the list.

According to confectionery consultant Andy Baxendale, KitKat’s uncontested popularity also comes from the nostalgia associated with it. He shared that indulging in KitKat brings back childhood memories. In addition, he considers KitKat’s red packaging timeless.

This is not the first time that KitKat received recognition. In 2014, KitKat was named as Time Magazine’s all-time most influential candy bar, beating other popular chocolate bars like Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, Nestlé’s Milk Chocolate, and Snickers. According to Time, KitKat also made a name for itself as the first chocolate to become an international obsession.
