King Charles III said early diagnosis and medical screening helped doctors find his cancer early, when it was easier to treat. In a recorded message on British television, he encouraged people to take advantage of screening programs. The king said his treatment may be reduced in the new year as he continues his recovery.

Buckingham Palace said his care has moved to a precautionary stage, and doctors will continue to watch his health. Charles first disclosed his illness in February 2024, after doctors found cancer during tests for another health problem. Since then, charities say cancer awareness has increased, with more people seeking information and tests.

The king stepped away from the public eye for about two months but continued state duties. He returned in April by visiting a cancer treatment center in London. Charles said sharing his story can help others get checked early. He reminded viewers that early tests can diagnose cancer sooner and may save lives. “Your life, or the life of someone you love, may depend upon it,” he said.
