Basketball legend Michael Jordan is giving $10 million (more than ¥1.5 billion) to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina. With the donation, the medical center will name its neuroscience institute after his mother, Deloris Jordan. Jordan said the gift honors his mother’s work and helps patients get advanced care for brain or nerve problems.

The money will support treatments for stroke, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other brain and nervous system illnesses. It also helps provide better technology and access to medical specialists. Deloris Jordan has worked for many years through the James R. Jordan Foundation to improve health and wellness programs in the U.S. and Africa. She said she feels proud to help bring high-quality care to more people in North Carolina.

Novant Health will hold a ceremony for the new neuroscience institute in early 2026. Jordan explained that his mother taught him the value of compassion and community, and he hopes the donation will bring help to patients in need. This gift is part of his ongoing efforts to support health and education programs.
