Samsung’s “Solve for Tomorrow” competition returns to Singapore for the eighth time. This year’s theme is “Dare to Dream: Be the Champion of Social Change.” The competition’s goal is to inspire young people to use creativity and technology to solve different social issues in Singapore. The president of Samsung Electronics Singapore described the competition as a platform in which the youth can turn their ideas into tangible solutions.
The competition is open to public school students in grades 6 to 12. This year, participants are expected to propose solutions to five main issues: (1) Environmental Sustainability, (2) Health, Sports, and Wellness, (3) Education and Learning, (4) Fair and Friendly Society, and (5) Singapore’s Digital Future. Participants should use critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and their knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to solve the issues. Students can submit their ideas until July 14 on the competition’s website.
Wang Zerui, leader of the champion team last year, said the competition is unique. It doesn’t only focus on technological creativity, but also on solutions that can positively affect society. His team felt inspired to do their best. It allowed them to learn a lot.
