OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, is now developing an AI tool that generates videos. It’s called Sora. The tool uses AI to quickly create short videos based on written instructions. Sora isn’t the first to show this kind of technology. However, AI industry experts noted that Sora’s videos so far show high quality, which is important for OpenAI and the text-to-video AI technology.

As the AI industry is rapidly growing today, a lot of people are becoming worried about the implications of the technology for people’s values. Researcher Fred Havemeyer notes that there is a huge risk of AI being used to create problems, such as fraud and propaganda. And this could happen in the 2024 US presidential elections.

OpenAI said it’s taking important safety steps before making Sora available to the public. The company said it’s also building tools to help determine false content in the videos generated by Sora. During the Munich Security Conference, OpenAI promised to work with 19 other technology companies to fight false content generated by AI during the elections.
