Warner Bros. Animation is working with New Line Cinema to produce a Lord of the Rings (LOTR) anime movie. Entitled The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, the movie will be related to the events of the first and second films of Peter Jackson’s trilogy. It will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who’s known for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Philippa Boyens, who previously worked on the LOTR trilogy, will also work on the new movie.

Warner Bros. Animation said that they’re proud to work with many talented people from Jackson’s film trilogy as well as new members of the team. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but the team is speeding up the movie’s development. Both studios have said they’re excited to bring the film to fans.

Many LOTR fans are also excited about the upcoming film. On social media, one fan wrote that the movie sounds fantastic, while another hoped that it lives up to expectations. Even Elijah Wood, who played the character Frodo in the original trilogy, tweeted that he’s excited to see it.
