Hi!

Remember the furniture design competition I mentioned? Well, I entered it, and the judges loved my work! Now, they’re offering me a scholarship! It’s for a one-year design program. If I do well, I might have the chance to work at an amazing furniture design company that’s associated with the school. There’s just one problem: Both the design program and the company are in New York.

If I went there, I’d have to leave my life in Japan. I’ve always dreamed of doing furniture design, but… I don’t know. I just feel like now is a bad time for me to leave my job. I mean, everything’s going well at work. I’m about to be promoted, and actually, some of my coworkers are trying to talk me into staying. They say it might be too risky to go, and maybe they’re right… Maybe I should stay here for the time being.

But on second thought, this is also a very rare chance… I don’t think I’ll get another opportunity like this again. I have to give my answer to the program by next week. Please help me decide!

Challenge 3

Now, you’re talking to your friend on the phone. Convince him/her to take the scholarship and go to the US.
