Use the two patterns below to talk about giving something to someone.

Did you know that you shouldn’t use the verb present to talk about gifts? You can use the verb present to talk about things like presentations. For gifts, you should use the verb give.
X I presented my parents some wine.
O I gave my parents some wine.
贈り物をあげるときに「present」という動詞を使うべきではないと知っていますか。動詞の「present」はプレゼンテーションなどをするときに使います。贈り物には「give」という動詞を使いましょう。
X 私は両親にワインのプレゼンテーションをしました。
