Use the simple past tense to talk about actions that happened in the past.

Add –ed to regular verbs that end with consonants.

Felix:

Felix:

Yohei:

Yeah. I was on the baseball team and basketball team in high school. How about you?

Felix:

No, I hated sports! I enjoyed drawing and painting, so I joined the art club. It was fun.

Yohei:

I like art too. I wanted to join the art club, but I was really busy with sports. I practiced with my teammates after school every day.

Felix:

Well, now you’re not so busy, right? Let’s join the art club together!

TRIVIA

Do you know the difference between team and club?  Teams have competitions, but clubs usually don’t. For most sports, you should say team, not club.
