STEP B GRAMMAR TIP

The word get has many meanings.

Use get to mean buy.

  • I want to get hairspray when we go shopping tomorrow.
  • I got my facewash at that store.

You can also use get to mean receive.

  • I got sunscreen from my friend.
  • Can I get a free sample, please?

Saori and her mom are at a beauty store in South Korea. Saori is talking to the clerk.

Clerk:

Good afternoon! Can I help you?

Saori:

Yes, please. I want to get sunscreen.

Clerk:

Do you want sunscreen for the beach?

Saori:

No, I’m just going to walk around Seoul. I usually wear sunscreen every day, but I forgot it in Japan.

Clerk:
