Scientists have released a second warning about the environment’s current state by means of an online journal.

In 1992, a group of scientists published a letter that was signed by roughly 1,500 scientists. It warned of the Earth’s gradual destruction due to several factors, including a hole that was found in the ozone layer.

The ozone layer has since recuperated, but it remains to be the only thing that has seen improvement since 1992. All the other issues have worsened, and unfortunately, more issues came to light in the past years.

In order to prevent further destruction, an independent group of scientists called the Alliance of World Scientists released another warning 25 years after the first notice was made public. The second warning emphasizes the urgency to protect the environment.

The journal gained support from about 15,000 scientists. According to one of the authors, Professor William Ripple, the second warning aims to raise awareness about the harmful things happening to the environment. The scientists also hope that their paper will gain global recognition and help educate more people about the Earth’s current environmental state.

Aside from warning people, scientists also mentioned ways on how to prevent the Earth from reaching eventual destruction.

Experts suggest that parents consider limiting their children to one or two so they can provide enough resources for everyone. A shift to plant-based food is also seen as a more eco-friendly option as it helps reduce food wastage.

They also called on legislators to reinforce the use of renewable energy sources and help stop ecosystems from being wiped out and converted to urbanized areas.
